Wildfire Ready Linn County – Free Home Assessments

Wildfire Ready Linn County

The South Santiam Watershed Council is proud to be a partner of Wildfire Ready Linn County, a collaborative effort that brings together local fire districts, watershed councils, and county and state agencies to help communities prepare for wildfire.

Through this partnership, residents have access to free home assessments, educational workshops, defensible space guidance, and practical resources that can help reduce wildfire risk around their homes and properties. By working together, Wildfire Ready Linn County is helping communities take proactive steps today to become safer and more resilient for the future.

Wildfire Ready Linn County is a five-year initiative focused on strengthening wildfire preparedness throughout Linn County. The program supports community education, improves emergency response capabilities, reduces wildfire risks through fuels reduction projects, and helps homeowners and communities better prepare for future wildfire events.

This initiative builds on the updated 2024 Linn County Community Wildfire Protection Plan and is supported through a Community Wildfire Defense Grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

As part of this partnership, the South Santiam Watershed Council has expanded its capacity by welcoming two new staff members who will help connect residents with resources, provide outreach and education, and support wildfire preparedness efforts throughout the South Santiam Watershed.

Free Home Assessments

A free home assessment is one of the easiest ways to learn how wildfire may affect your home and property—and what steps you can take to reduce risk.

During the assessment, a trained professional will walk your property with you, identify potential concerns, and provide practical recommendations related to defensible space, fuels reduction, home access, and other wildfire readiness measures. Assessments are educational, supportive, and tailored to your property's unique conditions.

There is no cost to participate, and there is no obligation to complete any recommended work. Our goal is to help homeowners better understand wildfire risk, make informed decisions, and connect with local programs and resources that may be available to help.
