Prior to graduate school, Mike spent several years working as a field botanist with researchers at Oregon State University and the U.S. Forest Service Pacific Northwest Research Station. He has also led environmental education programs for the U.S. Forest Service in Lake Tahoe and the National Park Service at Muir Woods National Monument. In his free time, Mike can be found on mountain trails, biking, hunting mushrooms or making music in his home studio.
