Alex was born and raised in Lebanon, Oregon. If he wasn’t digging for clams and catching crabs on the Oregon Coast with his grandma, he was swimming in the South Santiam River in the summers with his family. Growing up in Oregon allowed him to experience a range of environments that all sparked and nurtured his love and respect for the natural world. After high school, he attended Oregon State University, where he recently graduated with a B.Sc. in Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Sciences. Some of his previous work includes blueberry picking, lifeguarding, and meticulously weighing dried Pacific Cod samples. 

He interned for the Calapooia Watershed Council in the spring of 2023 as an urban ecology educator. This internship proved to be a fantastic experience where he learned the importance of helping students build their relationships with the outdoors. That same year, he worked for the South Santiam Watershed Council as their outdoor school associate, where he finally got to experience the wonder of Oregon’s outdoor school. He is now excited to step into the Watershed Education Program Coordinator role, where he hopes to continue engaging students with the outdoors. When he is not on a field trip, he can usually be found reading, gardening, cooking, and spending time outside with his dogs. 

Loren is originally from Southern Oregon and grew up exploring the Rogue River Watershed. Since that time Loren earned a B.Sc. from Montana State University – Bozeman, and an MBA from University of Hawaii – Manoa.  Loren’s career started as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Cameroon, followed by 8 years in Commercial Finance, and another 10 years in Natural Resource Management.  Loren’s previous position with Marin Water focused primarily on Vegetation and Wildfire Fuels Management.  Loren brings a wide range of experience from finance & project management, to GIS & mapping, to prescribed burn planning. In his free time Loren enjoys the outdoors, i.e. cycling, backpacking, and hiking with his wife and pets.

Aaron grew up in Southern Oregon, where his interest in agriculture, natural resources, and the outdoors began through exploring the forests, rivers, and mountains of the Pacific Northwest. Those early experiences inspired a career dedicated to helping people steward the landscapes and communities they call home.

Aaron earned a B.Sc. in Environmental Science and Policy from Southern Oregon University and later completed an M.Sc. in Environmental and Regional Planning at Leibniz University in Germany, where he studied innovative approaches to climate resilience, watershed management, and regional planning. Throughout his career, he has worked across environmental education, conservation, agriculture, and ecological restoration, engaging audiences ranging from elementary and high school students to landowners, community organizations, and local governments.

As the Wildfire Outreach Specialist, Aaron is passionate about helping communities reduce wildfire risk through education, collaboration, and voluntary land stewardship. Having witnessed firsthand the devastating impacts of the 2020 Almeda Fire in Southern Oregon, he is motivated to support proactive, community-driven approaches that make neighborhoods and landscapes more resilient.

Outside of work, Aaron enjoys hiking, camping, kayaking, gardening, and exploring the Pacific Northwest with his family and friends.

Nyx is a 5-year-old black lab serving as the Water Quality Consultant. She specializes in water inspections, mud sampling, splash surveys, snack detection, and morale improvement. When she’s not supervising restoration projects, Nyx enjoys swimming, chasing sticks, and ensuring staff take adequate outdoor breaks.
